SunRRA is pleased to announce the launch of its Monograph series. The monographs provide us with the opportunity to formally document our thoughts and research on a range of issues of importance and interest to our community. Each monograph will deal with a single subject.
As part of this launch we are pleased to release The Return of Ned Kelly: a story about the fight to save a community pool, by John Girardi. There are many people who contributed to the Sunshine pool being saved. This is some of the story about one of those people, Simon Bereux, and how he resurrected Ned Kelly during one of the darkest hours of a drawn out and exhausting campaign. It's a story that illustrates the lengths we had to go to to win back what we have now, which is just part—not all—of what we lost.
The other monograph is called Poems for Brimbank, by Bard1. During 2006, to the delight of our visitors, a number of poems began appearing on the SunRRA discussion forum, chronicling aspects of politics in the West. The poems were attributed simply to Bard1, and while there was a lot of discussion about the poet's identity no one could pinpoint it for sure. To this day Bard1's identity remains a mystery.
We hope you enjoy these two monographs and we look forward to bringing you more in the future.
The third monograph is currently being developed and it will detail the games played with political preferencing for Brimbank City Council elections.
