If the McKay bequest is like the Footscray and Spotswood ones and the Sunshine RSL elders are right then Justine Madden, Dick Wynne, Anzac House and the Sunshine RSL Committee have all acted outside their legal authority in approving the social housing project.

Madden and Wynne's own press release and Margaret Crawford's letters to residents all say that there will be many tenants outside the RSL veteran categories.
http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/newsroom/9127.html

Under the proposal 30 two-storey two bedroom townhouses specifically designed to cater for couples, families and single mothers and their children.

Housing Minister Richard Wynne said the homes would be managed by specialist housing provider Women’s Housing Limited, in partnership with the RSL.

“This development will house women already living in the local community who want to remain close to their family, friends and work,” Mr Wynne said.

“Affordable housing in this area is in high demand and while we have increased affordable housing stocks in the area significantly there is still more to be done.

“It is important that as a community we support our most vulnerable neighbours and through this project and the ongoing assistance from Women’s Housing Limited, these tenants will have good quality housing that is well located, close to opportunities and employment.”

Mr Madden said Brumby Labor Government planning reforms were making a real difference to the women and families in need of housing assistance in these tough global economic times.

“Work will begin shortly so families will able to move into these fantastic affordable homes sooner,’’ he said.

Forget about the SunRRA and their LIberal politics, the reality is that affordable Houssing is very urgently needed and we the Residents have the responcibility to support and assist in every way.

Not in every way, dummy, not by a long shot.

Not for example when the proposal is to build slums that entrench disadvantge for generations.

Grow up you silly billy and get some responsibility about you.

SunRRA knows that all political parties are rooting the arse out of sunshine for theior own political gains. dont give a stuff about fixing the community long term. They only care about the next elections and getting voted in.

Thats why SunRRA is not politically aligned JUSTIN you goose.

And thats why SunRRA supports appropriate social housing - see the front page article.

Now I know who you are, your one of those newcomers to the area like the rest of Liberals that came to the area in the last 10 to 13 years, due to the lower prices in Sunshine. Here in the West we call them two bob millionairs, go back to where you can mixed with your own people. if you don't like it in Sunshine.

well what do you know

someone actually standing up and saying what we in the west have known for yonks - no point putting housing in place without the support services to back them up

guaranteed to fail otherwise

bloody RSL should know a lot btter but got caught up in the greed game - quick bucks instead of social conscience. uneal from an organisation that crows about how it supports its members and the community generally.

Priest David Cappo calls for rethink on housing the homeless

Pia Akerman
From: The Australian January 07, 2010 12:00AM

THE man who helped to turn around the number of people sleeping on South Australian streets, when all the other states recorded increases, has called for Kevin Rudd to drastically revise his approach to homelessness.

David Cappo, a Catholic priest who is Premier Mike Rann's Social Inclusion Commissioner, said the commonwealth's plan to reduce homelessness by 20 per cent by 2013 and halve the problem by 2020 would "disintegrate" if an external body was not appointed to monitor and supervise the bureaucracy.

"You will have lip service about all these services coming together, but in fact they won't," Monsignor Cappo said. "You don't just leave it to the bureaucracy to do it, you've got to have some external monitoring going on and pressure on the system to deliver."

Sunshine is full of social housing. You don't know it because the houses and units aren't in enclaves, they are peppered throughout the community.

This is the type of social housing we want.

As far as politics goes, how about you count up all the public houses and units that were demolished by the State Government and the land sold off to developers.

OUR money paid for those properties - our property was diverted to private developers.

Now we have OUR money being given to private developers to build new social housing experiments.

How is that a good thing?

Just because it has the tag "social" doesn't make it a good thing.

MADDEN is one of the better ministers this Goveenment ever had. SunRRA in conjuction with some Council officers made sure of dismising the elected Councillors. Those Councillors could have LObby JUSTIN, and other ministers not to issue permits on this centrally situated area next to the Gaming venue. Building affortable Houssing is a great idea we have to help those people in need, but is always areas that you can mixed them amongs ather Communities. Building them in the middle of the City is very wrong, and that is where Councillors can help and voice the opinion on behalf of the Residents. Nick FOA the C.E.O. wrote to the minister in support of the Community, Minister Madden has taken no notice of Nick, after all Nick and the officers knew about the applications for the Permit long ago.

The Councillors have never voted against anything you moron - they do as they are told and have supported developers over residents' interests at every opportunity.

Has the Sunshine RSL Committee or Anzac House talked to Melbourne Water about the proposed undeground carpark on a site that is subject to flooding?

What does Melbourne Water think about an undeground carpark on a site that is prone to flood?

This post just goes to show that you people on this site only want a Sunshine based agenda. The councillors did vote down several developments, maybe not in Sunshine, but in other areas of BRIMBANK!! Perhaps SunRaa should be lobbying for the "municipality" of Sunshine and then either the future councillors or the administrators will only have to concentrate on Sunshine!!

You are correct. Sunraa = Sunshine residents and ratepayers association! I would think with that being the case a Sunshine based agenda would be first and foremost the most important agenda Sunraa pushes. Would the LPBSA (Labour Party Branch Stacking Association)please start their own site so we can return to some educated discussion on Sunshine and not have to endure your petty grievances and conspiracy theories?

Its the SUNSHINE Residents Association, which part of that don't you understand?

The councillors did vote down several developments, maybe not in Sunshine, but in other areas of BRIMBANK!!

What does this have to do with Justin Madden approving social housing units that are in breach of res-code ?

What is it about ALP branchstackers that they can't even manage a cogentargument?
