I know some of the guys that were at the skate park.

50 indian adults came at a bunch of kids at a skate park. Whether or not 1 kid called them something racist. 50 adults came at a bunch of kids (there were 2 adults at the skate park with their kids) with machetes, sticks, bats and other weapons. There were kids as young as 12-13 there.

Ted is catching the train to Sunshine tomorrow morning.

Estimated time of arrival 9.00 am.

His crew will be handing out flyers about the latest policy the Libs have released.

Itsn't it great they are coming to sunshine to press the message home.

What do you think of this? Its got to be an improvement on what we have now which is nothing!

And what is old action man doing? - Nothing!

BAILLIEU TO STOP CRIME IN ITS TRACKS WITH NEW TRANSPORT SECURITY FORCE

· Victoria Police Protective Services Officers on every metropolitan station after 6pm
· Major regional stations also covered
· Additional Victoria Police officers to patrol train, tram and bus networks
· More than 1,000 extra officers on public transport system
· Zero tolerance approach to crime on public transport

A Victorian Coalition Government will make Victoria’s train network safe again by putting Victoria Police Protective Services Officers (PSOs) on every train station in metropolitan Melbourne and the major regional centres after 6pm, seven days a week. Additional Victoria Police officers will also patrol the train, tram and bus networks, Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition Leader Ted Baillieu said today.

Announcing the Victorian Coalition’s $200 million four-year Stopping Crime in its Tracks plan in Geelong today, Mr Baillieu said Victorians should have the right to feel safe on public transport, but under Labor, Victorians feared using this basic service.

“We will turn stations from places of fear into places of safety,” Mr Baillieu said.

“Under our plan, Victorians will not be vulnerable and alone at stations. A dedicated unit of 940 fully trained professional Victoria Police PSOs will provide blanket coverage and protection at train stations every night.

“In addition, we will recruit 100 additional Victoria Police officers to join the Transit Safety Division, bringing to 350 the total number of officers patrolling the entire train, tram and bus networks at all times.

“The Coalition’s plan guarantees that there will be uniformed officers on every station in metropolitan Melbourne and the major regional stations from 6pm until the last train, seven days a week.

“Melbourne’s metropolitan train stations and all stations in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Traralgon will be protected by uniformed officers.

Ted can promise anything seeing as he will never have to implement his policy.

The Herald Sun has confirmed Mr Overland's aide, a leading senior-constable, has been equipped with a Glock 9mm handgun.

high-ranking sources said Mr Overland was a potential target for disgruntled crime and terror figures.

Disgruntled police said they understood the need for protection for their chief, but they could not understand why they were left waiting.

"What about the members on the street who need them?" one officer said.

Sound planning decisions from Justin Madden & Co.

http://www.theage.com.au/national/arrests-wont-end-drunken-violence-police-20091126-juo1.html

VICTORIA'S police chief says his force cannot arrest its way out of alcohol-fuelled violence, with the state recording a jump in assaults over a year.

More than 34,000 assaults were recorded up to September this year, representing a 7.8 per cent increase over the previous year.

Police statistics also showed that during that period 21,552 people were arrested for drunkenness, a 23.4 per cent increase on the previous year and significantly more than five years ago when just over 12,000 were arrested for drunken behaviour.

"Victorians can't trust John Brumby when he maintains the fiction that Victoria is the safest state, despite record and rapidly growing levels of violent crime," Mr Baillieu said. "Violence is becoming more ruthless, random and reckless.

Everyone agrees.

http://www.theage.com.au/national/push-on-to-ban-beer-barns-20091127-jx1x.html

MELBOURNE'S beer barns are destined to go the way of indoor smoking in bars and restaurants and be regulated away, according to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.

"Despite that fact that the local government authority was against it, the police were against it, liquor licensing were against it, VCAT [the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal] granted them hours and numbers of patrons - any system working like that is actually not working," he said.

The head of the Rudd Government's preventive health taskforce, Professor Rob Moodie, said he supported a roll-back of large drinking venues. "Victoria has unfortunately led the way in deregulating liquor licensing," he said.

We all know Dumb Harry just fires off his mouth before he thinks. And he just cant join the dots.
A new TV series called Dumb Harry is being scripted. It resembles the Yes Minister series but stars a dorky minister known around the traps as Dumb Harry.
The first episode shows Dumb Harry at his desk with a blackboard and chalk beside him and a brief about Sunshine too. The blackboard has the heading SUNSHINE and the following words scattered around it

police
crime
unemployment
youth issues
growing numbers of single mothers
refugees in crisis
gambling issues
alcohol abuse
drug and substance abuse
lack of employment opportunities
service gaps in transport, health, education

The brief about Sunshine is an application for a planning permit to build social housing on the local RSL.

Like with the beer barns Dumb Harry thinks that on its own its a great idea. He shoots off his mouth without engaging his brain or taking advice and then signs off the papers. Then all hell breaks loose in the community, in his office and in the Parliament and Dumb Harry gets shown up again as the person who had all the info but just could not join the dots before making a decision for all the community.

Dumb Harry proved a real hit and soon got the Brumby government voted out of office. Planning was its weak suit and joining the dots in policy and implementation were Dumb Harry's ongoing legacy to the ALP.

Dumb Harry was last seen sitting in his Essendon backyard admiring his new pigeon coop which he saw as a mini social housing development. In the coop were his real favorite's a pair of turkish tumblers who he had called Haky and Nazalie. Every day he let them out for a fly and laughed himself silly when they performed their high speed mid air rolls. When they returned to their coop he watered them, fed them seed, and gave them their medications to keep the lice away.

And he thought back to the Sunshine RSL days and wished he had done the same for the poor women who were dumped in that coop without anyone to care for them properly.

Overland blames Planning Minister Justin Madden's decisions for the surge in alcohol fuelled violence that has gripped the city.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/time-to-rein-in-clubland/story-e6frf7kx-1225805503198

THE interests of pubs and clubs have outweighed those of the rest of the community for too long, Chief Commissioner Simon Overland believes.

Mr Overland will say he welcomes the State Government's freeze on new licences, but there needed to be more restricted hours of operations and greater consideration given to how new venues affected an area's amenity.

"It is my opinion that for some time now that balance has been out of kilter, and we need to think about how we bring it back in line," Mr Overland will say.

PREMIER John Brumby says Melbourne's nightlife will be allowed to keep growing, despite a claim by Chief Commissioner Simon Overland that the city has too many licensed venues.

But Mr Brumby yesterday defended the growth in bars and licensed cafes, saying they are an important part of Melbourne's culture

Re:Police resourcing debate looms 9 Months ago
The assault increases (across the the board at least if you believe all the facts printed by the media) are fuelled by self defense course promotions, the gen x arrogance factor (also prevalent in the police force being the main age grouping), coupled with a distinctly prominent trend to react badly when losing face, the inability to handle power, authority confusing personal power with vocational duties and personal resonsibilites The consequence of this is from being too impatient for baby boomer to move and being illprepared and immature to cope with what he/she has created.Gen y is usually a boomer parent baby and they resent rightfully the gen x mindset ie.right all all the time(for females) we have the effie syndrome.."excuse me"..(for males) we have.."now listen here" stereotype behaviour.Reading some comments on the site shows that quite a few writers are ignorant of a true community outlook and are political rabblerousers. They are probaly activists who never lived nor do live in the area.I grew up in sth melb, port melb and if these activists think that gentrification, which is the inevitable, if you allow radical social community change to happen in your community, then you had better think again.
We lost our community to the rich..solve your problems in house.By the way check on inspector
mahoney past background it is not the best......!

No wonder the Brumby government is targeting the Ombudsman. Shoot the messenger and everything will be OK.

http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/society-and-culture/flawed-victorian-police-force-needs-rethink-20091210-kmal.html

For the second time in just a few weeks the Ombudsman has exposed serious maladministration in Victoria Police.

Yesterday after 15 months of investigation, Ombudsman George Brouwer found the Forensic Services Centre was poorly managed, chronically plagued with delays and unable to reach the minimum standards of evidence security.

This was on the back of a report last month by Brouwer that found the police information technology so inept it would have been laughable if it hadn't cost millions of dollars.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/work-parties-turn-into-fight-night/story-e6frf7kx-1225812071531

POLICE on the beat have blamed a lack of public transport and taxis for alcohol-related violence in Melbourne at the weekend.

Police reinforcements from regional areas joined officers patrolling the city's streets.

Officers said the night had become known as "fight night" as hundreds of booze-filled revellers battled to get home after work break-up parties.

Many arguments broke out as thousands were forced to wait up to three hours for taxis.

Also during the night:

A GROUP of drunken teens had to be subdued with capsicum spray after a fight in Lonsdale St.

WOMEN aged in their 40s were seen vomiting in the gutter.

PARALYTIC revellers played chicken with traffic as they lurched across lanes to try to catch taxis.

ONE handcuffed drunk passed out on the footpath as escorting police on either side waited for a van to pick him up.
