Mr Lewinsky, who has previously worked as an administrator for the Cheltenham and Regional Cemeteries Trust and the Fawkner Crematorium and Memorial Park, will assume the role of mayor.
"This community has experienced a prolonged period of frustration and instability as a result of the council's inability to govern in its best interests," Mr Lewinsky said.
"Together with Ms Sussex and Ms Anderson, I'll be setting an appropriately high expectation of local governance for the residents and ratepayers of Brimbank - and I intend to meet and exceed those expectations."
Local Government inspector Bill Scales was appointed to oversee the council but reported no improvement.

I had such hopes.... but I'm still bracing for disappointment.
Sussex would have worked in Sunshine under the Ian Mill regime and Commissioner days. At least Sunshine did commit $$$ to supporting the community, then, and building it. Hopefully her expertise will provide the insight needed to work with the leadership-abused communities of Brimbank.
Can't remember much complaint from friends in either Wang or Benalla, no compliments either, although issues with pools closed and opened. Ms Anderson would presumably bring the Local Government expertise. If Lewinsky was put in to cleanup those massive cemeteries' trust scandals of a few years ago he might be EXACTLY what Brimbank needs on the accountability and governance side of the equation. He specialises in growth through acquisitions, sale of all or part of owners’ equity, succession planning, change management and business development, capital raisings, public listings and restructurings. Just a hint, NO, WE DO NOT NEED SALE OF ASSETS, Rob Spence and Marilyn Duncan were here already. And, we DO NEED initiative in capital raisings where, presumably his experience in the NFP sector with Firbank and Bill Hutchison foundation gives him a quick insight into local government funding opportunities.
The more I read the backgrounds, the more I hope. Each seems an older person who I expect to understand governance issues and each has worked in a professional sphere, albeit finance and local government, which supports good, evidence-based decision making (everywhere but Labor democratic Brimbank, of course).
Looking forward to the changes.

And sale of the Sunshine civic centre HAD BETTER NOT BE ON THE AGENDA.

That's a promising start and I'm giving them a chance.

I will be giving them a chance too, but I think we should be asking for their terms of reference. Who are they accountable to? Any money it is the Minister or Brumby. Don't forget they are all career bureaucrats who have had to do with the premier's departments. We should also be asking how much they will be getting of our money to do jobs they were nor elected to do. Not one of them has experience in dealing with residents!!

Sure, ask all the questions you like. Peter Lewinsky is not a "career bureaucrat."
All 3 of them have experience with residents, perhaps you should do some research.

I guarantee it won't take long for Brimbank residents to suss out the bonefides of these three.
Remember we have had over a decade of abuse. It has all been exposed now. If and when the three commissioners stuff up they will know about and so will everyone else.
We won't have to wait long to see who's playing who.

Meredith has done a lot since Sunshine.
MEREDITH SUSSEX
Head of the State Government's Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination, Sussex is the yin to chief executive John Harnden's yang. She oversees a department that has devised the mammoth Games traffic and transport program. The delivery of the cultural festival will also rest heavily with Sussex and her team. More comfortable away from the media, cricket-loving Sussex is the most respected person working on the Games. She is one of the few Games officials considered to be apolitical, having held senior roles in both the Kennett and Bracks governments.
Meredith Sussex
Meredith Sussex has extensive experience in the delivery of major infrastructure projects and strategic and land-use planning. She has considerable public sector experience including: Executive Director - Integrated Transport (Department of Transport); Program Coordinator - Australia 2020 Summit; Executive Director - Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination; and Deputy Secretary roles with the Departments of Education and Premier and Cabinet.
