Brumby is backing Madden to the hilt. Why would you? Madden is a political liability if ever there was one.

With all the dirt that Labor Unity has been involved in for all of these years, maybe if one falls that person will have so much dirt on everyone else that they take everyone else with them? So everyone has to stick fat, lest they all get brought down.

Dominoes, anyone?

Sack Madden now! The more you dig, the more you realise what a disgraceful man he is. Today (16 May 09), on page 7 of the Herald Sun it is revealed that Justin Madden provided a reference for Hakki Suleyman in his application to become a Justice of the Peace. Madden's reference was a key to Hakki becoming a JP and to Hakki perpetuating the illusion that he was a respectable man.

Justin Madden knew what sort of man Hakki was. Blind Freddy would have known. Justin benefited from Hakki's branch stacking, so he was happy to turn a blind eye to what was going on in 2005 (when John Vogels spent 30 minutes in parliament talking about the Cairnlea soccer club decision, including Hakki's connection to the soccer club). Madden was happy to ignore this, as well as Hakki's criminal convictions.

In addition, while I'm no fan of Bernie Finn, when Finn raised issues about what was going on in Brimbank, Justin Madden laughed at him. I am sick to death of Justin and his cronies treating the western suburbs of Melbourne as a big joke. Madden is the joke, and a very cruel one. His support for Hakki created a situation where corruption could thrive in Brimbank. He needs to take responsibility and resign now.

Justin Madden is dirt. Sack Justin Madden Now. It's worth repeating over and over: Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now. SACK JUSTIN MADDEN NOW. Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now. Sack Justin Madden Now.

This Western Suburbs Upper House "representative" is supporting a factional arrangement that is worsening outcomes for our community.

They are coming at him from a number of directions - for providing a known criminal with a reference to become a Justice of the Peace, and for misleading the parliament!

If he gets away with that, there is really something rotten in Victoria.

Victorian Planning Minister Justin Madden has rejected calls for him to resign over the latest fallout from the Brimbank Council scandal.

The Opposition says it wants Mr Madden to explain why he gave a reference to a former electorate officer, who has a criminal history, to support the man's application to become a Justice of the Peace.

Mr Madden stood down the former staffer, Hakki Suleyman, last week, after a damning report by the ombudsman found Mr Suleyman improperly influenced the Brimbank Council while his daughter was Mayor.

Think Madden was losing it on tonight's news, and passionately denied knowing about the conviction. Hard to know what to believe.

Now, if Hakki was an honest citizen and declared it in the paperwork it's possible they may have decided to grant the JP irrespective of it.

But, the police check SHOULD have revealed it. After all the Ombudsman's investigators found it and told us about it.

But wait, who was Natalie working for? Haermayer, and what was his job, yes, remember, POLICE MINISTER.

Wasn't there a scandal about leaked LEAP data on factional enemies that was mysteriously available to the Suleyman faction. About the same time that some suggest the police 'helped' Natalie & Otte entrap Tabban.

Somebody please tell me I am WRONG, surely this can't be so, not the police as well.

Re:Sins of the father: Justin Madden knew everythi 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I felt sick in the stomach when I heard Justin Madden talking about Hakki Suleyman in his press conference, as reported on Channel 7 yesterday (16 May 09):

Reporter: He (Hakki) wasn't interfering in council affairs while his daughter was the Brimbank Mayor, says the Minister, he was simply a proud father.

Justin Madden: Of course, he was always going to be very interested in the achievements of his daughter, as any parent might be in relation to the successes or failures of their children.

---------------

Madden is a complete joke, absolutely. One minute he is saying everything is a surprise to him. He didn't know anything about what was revealed in the Ombudsman's report. He didn't know about Hakki's criminal convictions.

Justin has been making out that he didn't know Hakki very well from all the comments he has been making in the media, until now. But then yesterday, all of sudden, he knows Hakki well enough to know that Hakki did not interfere in council business.

Which one is it, Pinochio? Do you know Hakki or don't you? What's really happened here? Is Madden walking a delicate tightrope?

It seems to me that Madden is trying to distance himself from Hakki on the one hand, to save his own political career. But on the other hand, he is defending Hakki. Is it because he can't afford to piss Hakki off too much?

The stench just gets stronger and Justin's nose keeps growing.

According to this article in the Herald Sun in October 2002, Ken Capar wrote to Christine Nixon to request the allegations be investigated.

Did the police investigate?

If they did they surely would have discovered Hakki's criminal record.

Funny how Justin Madden steered well clear of a police investigation - he wrote to the department of multiculture affairs.

Who knew what when? and was there a proper police invetiagation.

Madden staffer in terror link probe
By ASHLEY GARDINER

A STAFFER for Sports Minister Justin Madden has stood down following an allegation he was linked to a terrorist organisation.
Hakki Suleyman has taken leave while Mr Madden seeks details about a group called Ulusal Halk Hareketi.
Labor backbencher Telmo Languiller's electorate officer, Gurkan Capar, has also stood down from duties.
The Sunday Herald Sun reported this week that the UHH, or National People's Movement, was a Turkish ultra-nationalist organisation connected with car bombings and death threats in Northern Cyprus.
In Parliament yesterday, shadow attorney-general Victor Perton asked Premier Steve Bracks whether an inquiry into the reported links had started.
``The MPs involved have taken action themselves and I think they've taken it satisfactorily,'' Mr Bracks said.
Mr Suleyman works in Keilor as Mr Madden's electorate officer and Mr Capar performs the same role for Mr Languiller
in Sunshine.
The Sunday Herald Sun reported Mr Suleyman as saying he was the Australian co-ordinator of the UHH. He would not comment on the organisation's overseas activities.
Mr Capar reportedly said he was not aware of the allegations of terrorism.
``In Australia, UHH is a group of community organisations that organises debates and guest speakers about Cyprus,'' Mr Capar said.
Mr Languiller told the Herald Sun his staffer had written to Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon, asking police to investigate the allegations in a bid to clear his name.Mr Capar volunteered to stand aside until an inquiry was held, Mr Languiller said.
``I think it's the appropriate course of action,'' he said. ``I'm certainly concerned about these allegations.''
Victoria Police spokesman Kevin Loomes said it was inappropriate to comment on Mr Capar's letter.
A spokesman for Mr Madden said Mr Suleyman was on leave.
Mr Madden has written to the Office of Multicultural Affairs seeking further information about the UHH, spokesman Matt Phelan said.
``He's seeking advice on the status of the organisation,'' Mr Phelan said.
Speaker Alex Andrianopoulos said parliamentary officials had been informed the pair were not at work at the moment.

I thought I'd heard it all, Sick in the Stomach, but this is utterly outrageous. Now Justin Madden who never graced Brimbank Council meetings can tell us, who actually WITNESSED Hakki nod, wink and occasionally make 'slash across the throat' gestures to his daughter as she sat in the Mayoral seat. He had a 'regular' position from which he 'conducted' his daughter.

This was NO PROUD PAPA this was a political master telling his MAYOR daughter HOW TO CONDUCT COUNCIL BUSINESS!

Now, if the ALP have their way, I expect Hakki's elevation to some secure government funded post. Wonder if he still gets it when they realised his excesses have lost them the election. Hope so.

Re:Sins of the father: Justin Madden knew everythi 1 Year, 3 Months ago
What soccer club are you from, Justin?

Justin Madden is famous for his prowess as an AFL footballer. Ironic, isn't it? Now he's become infamous for his association with soccer clubs, the Cairnlea Soccer Club in partiular.

You know Cairnlea Soccer Club. It's the one that is a big feature of the Ombudsman's report. It's the one that Hakki Suleyman, Justin Madden's electorate officer, is associated with. The one Hakki's daughter gave all of that public money to. The one Justin Madden turned a blind eye to back in 2005, when Vogels raised it in parliament, and when a concerned resident wrote to him about it in 2005.

Now Justin and the rest of Victoria should know a little bit about the pain and suffering his inaction has caused a community in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The ramifications of Madden's inaction continue to this day.

Madden's failure to act certainly had an impact on the 2008 Brimbank City Council elections. The following comical, yet tragic, incident reflects the impact of Madden's inacation. This was observed by a number of people at the Sunvale polling booth on election day.

A flustered man came up to a group of campaign helpers who were handing out how-to-vote cards for Sam David (If you want to know more about Sam David you can read about him in the Ombudsman's report – he was affiliated with the Suleyman faction – and there's not a lot to like about this man). The flustered man asked, “What soccer club are you from?”

The campaign workers told the man that they were from Cairnlea Soccer Club, then asked why he wanted to know. The flustered man said, “ Well, Sam David told me to turn up at this other polling booth, but when I got there it was being manned by campaign workers from another soccer club. Now I don't know which polling booth I am supposed to be at.”

The funding that the Council provided to Cairnlea continues to have ramifications. Favours were called in for Brimbank Council election day. People associated with Cairnlea were only too happy to hand out for Sam David. Afterall, they now have a wonderful facility thanks to Madden's man Hakki and his daughter Natalie Suleyman.

In return for the facility at Cairnlea, Hakki became more powerful. He could rely on the soccer club to provide him with campaign workers for the Brimbank Council Election. He could also rely on the soccer club to provide him with a big pool of ALP members, who would come in handy for the ALP's pre-selections. Of course, those associated with the Cairnlea soccer club are extremely loyal to Hakki. Why wouldn't they be? Despite having a dreadful track record (including owing $14,000 to the Melton Council, which has not been repaid to this day), Hakki was able to swing it so that Brimbank City Council tipped in more than a million dollars to this club. The Cairnlea Soccer club loves Hakki Suleyman, and not because he was a public officer of the club, and his son was a committee member of the club. They should also love Justin Madden. Madden is intrinsically linked to Hakki. Madden gave Hakki credibility.

It's interesting, isn't it? When you think about it? Public money, given by Council, through Natalie Suleyman, and indirectly through Hakki Suleyman, has provided the ALP with a stronger power base. A soccer club full of election volunteers, full of ALP members, all willing to do Hakki's bidding come the ALP pre-selections. All that devotion to Hakki and it was bought with the public's own money. It's diabolical. And it was probably all planned out of Justin Madden's own office.

There is already an investigation into other irregularities that occurred at the 2008 Council election. Maybe these problems wouldn't have occurred had Madden acted in 2005, when he was first informed about Hakki's involvement with the Cairnlea soccer club. By failing to act, Justin's allowed a branch stacker to become far more powerful than he would otherwise have been. Maybe that's something Madden was happy about, until the Ombudsman's report was released.

By failing to do something about his rogue electoral assistant, Madden gave him legitimacy. Afterall, Hakki worked for a state government minister, no less. As an accomplished branch stacker Hakki was powerful anyway, but working for a government minister added to his power base, and to his legitimacy.

The government shouldn't underestimate the anger in this community over this issue.

This is not going to go away. We will keep fighting until the government does something about it. For starters, sack Justin Madden. Everybody knows he knew everything about Hakki.

http://www.theage.com.au/national/two-charged-with-breach-of-municipal-regulations

Documents submitted to the department by Mr Suleyman's lawyer, George Defteros, and obtained by The Age say proper procedures to consider who is fit to be a JP have been ignored.

"The Ombudsman's report contains no specific recommendations against our client. There is no evidence that our client has breached the code of conduct for justices of the peace.

"There has been no complaints procedure adopted in this matter, and there has been no written complaint made to either the ethics committee or the Department of Justice in relation to any alleged wrongdoing," Mr Defteros said.

Shadow attorney-general Robert Clark has called on Mr Hulls to launch an independent inquiry into Mr Suleyman's appointment as a JP.

When Justin Madden says politics in the Western Suburbs is not for the faint hearted, I laughed!

It's a bit like a policeman, armed with the right of law, a body builders physique, a gun, capsicum spray, a baton and backup police beside him saying I'm afraid of an unarmed teenager.

Justin Madden sits in an institutionalised sheltered political workshop, surrounded by his party heavyweights (and occasional thugs), has the power of the government, influence over public service, controls all local Councils and has the audacity to suggest he's somehow virtuous because he IGNORED CRITICISM!!!!!!!!!!!!! IGNORED JUSTIFIED COMPLAINTS.

Uggh, he deserves everything he gets. Couldn't happen to a more deserving buffoon.
