Could it have something to do with January 2010 being the hottest January on record globally?
Why are little kids sun burning almost instantly also?

"Australia's long-standing drought likely arises from global warming, representing a once-in-5,400 years event, suggests Antarctic ice core data."
"Only a single such (drought) event is expected in around 38,000 years for a climate unchanged from that of the past 750 years," write the authors, and should happen just once in 5,400 years, under normal conditions. The drought, they conclude, "lies outside the envelope of natural variability and supports the hypothesis of anthropogenically (man-made) induced climate shift."

Is taxing everything and making the poor even poorer the answer?
I don't trust the UN, WHO, WWF etc etc etc.
They have a proven track of doing the opposite!

Not sure where you're coming from TAXES. Obviously a tad paranoid in that you think nobody is to be trusted, make sure you extend that distrust equally to every seller of snake oil - skeptics included and see past their repeated bombastic assertions to cross check what they're saying. You'll find a mass of contradictions and the accusations of lies and misrepresentations.
From what I've heard, the whole of 2009 was the hottest year on record for Australia but I hadn't seen anything on January being a hottest on record for the south east of Aus, that is us.
A tax or levy, call it what you will, but we have to change people's habits and the only way that works in rich countries is to fine the heck out of people. Have you noticed how most people now tend to stick at the speed limit? Unlike the 'old days' when if you stuck on the speed limit you had to travel in the slow lane! Drivers have been 'taxed' into submission. Complying with the law stops those potential speedsters from wasting their own money and, as a byproduct, causes less deaths and maimings from car accidents.
Not all that much different trying to get power generators to update to cleaner fuels or more efficient processes. Yep, I'll whinge at the increased costs but I whinge every time they go up without any sign of clean generating improvements.

Sadly, Dave got left in Parliament sitting miserably through Malcolm Turnbull's speech on why he will vote for the CPRS - he is possibly its only friend - so Dad had to go to the drycleaner's himself and show off his ironing skills.
While telling everyone that the drycleaner's power bill will go up ginormously he forgot to mention that the expense was tax deductible and the added expense would be defrayed somewhat leaving the Treasury coffers a little bit less full.
Poor old Dad, also forgot to say that if the drycleaner was finding the added cost too high and impossible to pass on he might just help himself by investing in a more energy efficient bit of equipment, which he can also depreciate through his taxes and, if registered for GST get a GST exemption as well!
That's why a carbon tax/CPRS/ETS is so needed. After all, we know that business will pay megabucks to financial wizards to avoid paying a few cents in tax rather than pay the tax. On that basis, any carbon tax will do - the more businesses directly liable, the faster they will innovate to become carbon neutral!
Once again, Dad only told a bit of the story. Looking forward to seeing Dave in those funny costumes....

It's wonderful when two policies coalesce. The LibNats say Labor's friendless CPRS is a Great Big Tax on Everything while judging by the LibNats the taxpayer will fund it will lead to an Enormous Big Tax Increase.
After having my blood pressure was raised by a robocall telling me that every Australian is entitled to claim their $1200 for insulation, the penny dropped.
I'd thought it pretty stupid when Joe Hockey castigated the government for budget overruns and then proceeded to say they could manage their 'direct action climate policy'. Yep, just like they did with solar panels. Free gifts from government focus the energy of all opportunistic folk onto getting part of the action - OH&S be damned.
So, based on the 1,000,000 extra solar panels they want to 'give' away, we should see a massive blowout in 'their' budget, which, of course will be in deficit and they can blame Labor for the need to raise taxes and, hey presto, Australia takes no action to change to non-polluting energy sources AND we get higher and higher taxes.
The choice is sooooo clear. The Friendless CPRS or the excuse of a policy to increase taxes with impunity.
